Valerie Lynn (Dayon)
Valerie has been residing in the rural area of Necedah, Wisconsin for some 30 years. While she has been a Wisconsinite all her life, she, in her early rearing years, lived in Racine. She has mothered and raised five fine sons and presently is the proud grandmother of 23 charming grandchildren.
She has had an avid interest in the fine arts since her formative years, from pouring small molds in plaster to sketching with charcoal pencil, portraits in colored pencil, press designing, sewing, quilting, needlework of various kinds.
Valerie's mother had a very artistic nature and was prompt to instruct her oldest daughter (the eldest of 7 children) at an early age quality domestic and artistic skills, much to Valerie's joy!
She now, since her sons have grown to adulthood, takes great delight in utilizing her time to paint, primarily on canvas. Her preferred medium is colorful oils.
She enjoys pleine-aire painting in pleasant weather. Her subjects are landscapes, florals, still-life and portraits (often-times including sacred images). Her challenge in painting this varied subject matter is to acquire accuracy in color and texture.
She obviously prefers the victorian era to any other and endeavors to incorporate this period of time and style in many of her paintings. She also makes available quality prints of these works, both framed as well as unframed. her subjects make quite suitable whimsical and attractive note cards, of which many are available.
She focuses on the good and beautiful found in this world and is motivated to share in the beauty and stimulus of nature and purporting God's honor and glory. She is of the opinion that the gifts God offers us are meant to be developed and shared. She therefore hopes to spend her precious "golden years" as an artist, painting and selling her work, whether it be original pieces, reproductions, and/or note cards. So - please browse and enjoy!
